The property is a Victorian mid-terraced, two storey, 3 bed room house, Built in rick work which form an 'M’ type butterfly roof .
The property consists of an L shaped footprint with along two storey projected rear building. The house is very narrow and internal walls block the flow of move and light and there was limited access to the garden.
The owner wishes to improve the property by erecting a roof extension at second floor level in the shape of a mansard and to have a side return in the form of ‘lean-to-roof’ at ground level along the rear projected wing.

Restaurant Interior, Autumn Yard
A flexible interior within an industrial setting
Located within a converted warehouse in Hackney, Autumn Yard’s restaurant interior builds upon the existing industrial character while creating a warm and inviting environment. Rather than enclosed rooms, the design organises the open space into a sequence of distinct atmospheres for dining, gathering and social interaction. An open kitchen forms a focal point, connecting cooking with the dining experience, while communal tables, smaller seating areas and intimate corners support different patterns of use. The bar and entrance create an active threshold, with a terrace extending the experience outdoors. Timber, brick, tiles and dark detailing complement the raw warehouse fabric while introducing warmth. Designed to adapt throughout the day, the restaurant transitions from a relaxed daytime café into a more animated evening social space, creating an informal setting for eating, meeting and gathering.

Description
Autumn Yard is located within a converted warehouse in Hackney, where the existing industrial character provides the starting point for the restaurant interior.
The design embraces the openness of the existing space while introducing a series of distinct environments for dining, gathering and social interaction. Rather than dividing the restaurant into enclosed rooms, the interior is organised as a sequence of different atmospheres within one continuous space.
A generous open kitchen becomes a focal point of the restaurant, bringing the activity of cooking directly into the dining environment. Long communal tables encourage larger gatherings, while smaller seating areas and more intimate corners provide alternative places to eat, meet and relax.
The bar and entrance area form another layer of the interior, creating an active threshold between the restaurant and the surrounding yard. Towards the outside, the terrace extends the dining experience beyond the building and strengthens the relationship between the interior and the wider creative character of Autumn Yard.
A restrained palette of timber, brick, tiled surfaces and dark detailing complements the raw character of the warehouse while giving the restaurant a warmer and more domestic atmosphere.
The interior is designed to change throughout the day — from a relaxed daytime café and dining space to a more animated social environment in the evening.
The result is an informal and adaptable restaurant interior that celebrates the character of the existing warehouse while creating a series of spaces for eating, meeting and gathering.
