Site context

The applicant site comprises a three storey mixed-use property with commercial at ground and basement floor and vacant space on the floors above. The area is on the core of High Street that is comprised with full of amenities such as shops, grocery, restaurant, pub, bank, post office and so on.

Design Proposal

The key design consideration is introducing lightness and welcoming openness on the façade. Passing through the narrow alleyway and external staircase, the tenant already experience a welcoming journey to the home via an improved main access through the rear alleyway.

The design proposal introduces a vertical thin frame grid and floor to ceiling glass in order to attract the tenant into the property. Moreover, the vertical frame grid divides elevation into 4 sections and it emphasizes the verticality with continuous fin. This vertical rhythm with a thin fin frame and high glass enhances the lightness and openness of the property.
