Eveline Rd Flat, Mitcham

Contemporary Residential Development

Location : Mitcham, UK

Client : Private

Year : 2026-

Area : 900 sq.m

stage : planning stage

The proposal transforms the existing site on Eveline Road into a contemporary residential development that responds sensitively to the established character of the surrounding neighbourhood. The design draws on the scale, form and material language of neighbouring properties while acknowledging the site’s existing industrial character.

The development adopts a three-storey form, with upper accommodation integrated within the roof to establish a scale appropriate to the surrounding residential buildings. The massing and roofscape retain the familiar pitched-roof language of the street, while subtle variations in the roof ridge introduce a more contemporary architectural expression.

The façade is carefully composed, with entrances, windows and balconies positioned to define individual homes and establish a clear visual rhythm. Brick detailing, projecting entrance canopies and the articulated roofscape add depth and character while maintaining a restrained appearance.

Brick forms the principal façade material, complemented by contrasting tones and dark-framed aluminium windows and doors. Together with the roof and landscape treatments, the palette creates a coherent architectural identity.

The proposal seeks to establish a contemporary yet contextual residential development, balancing efficient use of the site with a sensitive response to its surroundings.
